Summer Research Grant!

I was notified by Dr. Gorman that I am being selected to receive a summer research grant from Purdue Graduate School.

It’s actually a fellowship with no obligations other than I need to register summer course credits.  If I remember correctly, this is my first fellowship given by a school, ever! Even since middle school!

200th commit in mace-fullcontext

In just three weeks, we had 100 more commits. Our system is much feature-rich than before. But it’s still far from mature. Summer’s coming!

ContextJob

Our paper about ContextJob was reject at HPDC’12. This is really unfortunate, but there’s no time for sorrow. We’re moving on to the next stage of research. We’re targeting at OSDI’12 due on May 3rd. Hopefully we would have enough time to polish the paper.

100th commit in Mace-fullcontext branch!

100th commit in mace-fullcontext!
The first commit in mace-fullcontext branch was made in December 21st. After more than three month, we now have a system that works kind-of like what we expected at first. Will probably need another 100 commits to make it mature :)

Not Much

There were not much to update in the recent two months since I came back from California and submitted to HPDC’12.  It was so boring that I did not even go across the bridge to Lafayette, let along any other big cities nearby.

Perhaps this is good. Before submitting to HPDC, I was entirely dedicated to it. If one person can devote 100% of energy into something, I felt like devoted 120% of my energy into it, and for almost two weeks I could not recover from the tiresome.

This semester I am the TA& instructor for two courses. Preparing lectures and grading homework took out most of my time. I think I somehow like teaching, but I really don’t like grading homework. Grading homework or reports is simply a waste of my time. If one day I have nothing can do except being a teacher or professor, I will not ask students to do little homework…
